Solanpada... A hiddenParadise
Solanpada....A short Road Trip
Karjat ..my home town.. situated 100 kms from Mumbai and approx. 95 kms from Pune. Surrounded by the wide Sahayadri mountains lush greenery, plenty of waterfalls and a beautiful atmosphere during monsoon. Solanpadapprox. 22 kms from Karjat is a beautiful waterfall located in the lap of nature surrounded by mountains. Actually it's a man made dam in steps format. (See the pic below).
(Pic courtesy.. Google)
The Dam is situated at base of the mountain range. The mountains range looks like a horse shoe shape from the dam side. On the one side of these mountain range you can see the Bhimashankar mountain area, as one of the Trek to Bhimashankar mountain starts from the nearby village, Khandas.
There are several small waterfalls around this dam. Water from these falls forms the backwaters of the dam and flows down these steps. The steps are well built in concrete and each step is not more than 4 or 5 feets deep. Hence it's the main attraction of this dam.
Also it's risky to reach the waterfalls, as there is a jungle all round the dam-side, even the base of the waterfall is not visible. So please be at the dam and enjoy.
The dam is in centre and surrounded by the mountains, lush greenery all around, and in monsoon it feels like the clouds play hide n seek with these mountains. The rains here are heavy and one should take care, as being part of Konkan region, it receives heavy rains, approx 100 inches a year.. Raincoat or umbrella is a Must.. Make sure no one should cross all steps and enter the river, though the river width is narrow the speed of flow is too high. It is dangerous to swim in this river. Every one should enjoy following the safely measures to avoid any risk. There is phone network issues, sometimes not available as it's situated in the midst of jungle area.
The best part about the waterfall is it's safe. So you can Enjoy the nature. Do not forget to click pictures and not selfies as clicking selfies may be risky. Do take care of your cellphones. Unfortunately my phone got damaged due to rain water and I lose my all beautiful pics of this sight.
So please do visit here.... ofcourse after all things get normal..! Take Care.
