PRAYAGRAJ -The Triveni Sangam

Good Evening my well wishers :

PRAYAGRAJ

Prayagraj formerly known as Illahabad or Allahabad is one of the pilgrim place, situated in the state of Uttar Pradesh.  It has an ancient history. The city is based on the banks of 2 well known Holy rivers , Ganga and Yamuna and mythical river Saraswati.  The third mythical Saraswati river, believed to flow underground towards the Sangam, gives the confluence its other name, Triveni. Lord Brahma also referred to it as Tirth Raj or the King of all pilgrimage centres.

Prayagraj is 130 km away from Varanasi. . has developed six lane expressway from Varansai to Prayagraj, is reflection of good architecture.  It took 2 2 hours to reach the destination. It is indeed well planned, equipped and designed express way. It is also maintain perfectly. I left Varanasi at 12 hrs. and reached Prayagraj at 14.30 hrs. It is understood that lunch hours are restricted to 3.pm and hence I decided to have lunch first and then further programme. I found a small but very clean and decorative hotel just after the entering Prayagraj city. The quality and taste of food was too good and services and cleanliness was also appreciable. I did my lunch here.

I then moved to sightseeing program. The first visit is planned to Triveni Sangam. It is sacred place for Hindoos. Sangam is Sanskrit word. It means confluence of Rivers. It is the tales since ancient time, that whatever sins was happened intentionally or innocently during your life, will be rubbished after the individual take a bath at this place and the goddess will forgive for the same. To reach to the main place i.e. Sangam point, the boat is the only source. There is good management for these safaris and the captain and sailors are strictly following the rules and norms imposed by Government of Uttar Pradesh. It is the safest safari, as there is restriction on carrying devotees per boat. It is also compulsory for both to provide and wear life jacket. It takes 15 minutes to reach the Sangam point. This place is well developed by constructing Ghat and suitable platforms duly surrounded by railing and safety measures, so devotees can comfortably take bath and do the worship and perform other rituals.

Though it is Sangam, the flow of Yamuna is constant with the natural directions, where as Ganga is always change the its flow style and many time act as a child says local people. If you are keen in observing the difference of these 2 rivers, you can easily identify there difference by the colour of water. Yamuna’s colour of water is bit black however the Ganga’s colour is greenish. The third river Saraswati is always visible because it appears after 12 years, it is legend. It was also shocking for me when came to know that the depth of water at Sangam point is just 1 to 2 feet, and one can walk within the prescribed limit. Ultimately it is nature’s creation.

I then proceed to visit the temples in and around the place. At the beginning, Hanuman temple on it’s bank and the idol of Hanuman is in horizontal position, i.e. letting on the floor. Local people have number of mythical tales, but the Sangam darshan performing only completes only and only when you worship this Hanuman. As usual Cameras and mobile are allowed here. I observed other 2 temples and moved to visit the historical place “Anand Bhavan” a Museum and secured resident of Late Motilal Nehru. The museum consisting of various photos and books providing the history of the independence movement for freedom of India. There few other places to visit such as Lukrarganj, Khusro Garden etc. This Garden is elaborately decorated gates gives way to the beautifully designed balconies. The walled bracketing of Kusro Bagh is a stunning examples of Mughal era architecture. Its sans stone Tombs of Jehangir family. It is a must visit sightseeing place after the Triveni Sangam.

To end my blog I would recommend to visit the Triveni Sangam and Prayagraj and get blessed. Pics below describes alot.!
